High Holidays

The High Holidays are observed here with dignity and respect. They remind us to take stock of our lives, search for meaning in the world, find paths for self-improvement, and connect with others in friendship and community. Please join us for the High Holidays. Check our calendar or call the main office at 516-676-5000 for more information.

Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur

Beginning with Selichot, on the Saturday night before Rosh Hashana, we offer opportunities for people to get together, learn, worship, and appreciate what we have and who we are.

On Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, we offer a variety of services. Our main service is augmented with family services, spiritual meditations, a Torah Reiki service, a workshop for those dealing with substance abuse issues, and a walk along the beach for Tashlich.

The High Holidays are family days, and we welcome all of our children onto the bima for the “blessing of the children” and to hear the shofar on Rosh Hashanah.

At the close of the Yom Kippur service, we gather for Neila with children and adults coming up to the Torahs for a moment of reflection before the doors to the ark are closed.

The High Holidays are a time to reset ourselves for the coming year. All are welcome in our sanctuary.
